Trip to Valkeakoski

Few weeks ago, we went to see a family we had made friends with in Tokyo. Heidi and Jussi have a very nice house in Valkeakoski, some 150-200 km north from Helsinki. We hadn't seen them in 1.5 years, so we were really looking forward to this trip. Here in between, they had a son, Juuso, who is a toddler now.

The weather wasn't too good on Saturday morning we were leaving. The weather forecast said it was going to snow, so we had to change winter tires before we could take off. So here's Kauppi doing the job.

Driving on the motor way:

As you probably knew, Finland is very sparsely populated. So, in the countryside, it looks quite much like this: few houses on a vast field.

Having dinner with Jussi and Heidi:

We had a great time eating, drinking and talking. Jussi took Kauppi to sauna, too.

We drove back on Sunday. The weather had turned sunny, so I had a chance to take few nice shots of the beautiful Finnish countryside.

Picturesque view:

Birch grove:

There are lots of lakes in Finland. Here we are driving by/through one of them:
