May Day and Daycare Spring Fête

"Vappu" (May Day) is an important national holiday for Finns. It used to be strongly linked to labour movement, but nowadays, it's mostly about drinking and partying (especially on the May Day Eve).

in Helsinki centre is traditionally full of celebrating people:

At 6 pm on the May Day Eve, everyone who has graduated from high school, should wear his/her student cap. Lina is wearing a Moomin scarf instead...

...but hopefully, some day she'll get her own cap, too.

Daycare Spring Fête

In the end of May, Lina's daycare organised a small event to celebrate the end of Spring term. The event was held in The Nature House Villa Elfvik, which is the environmental education centre of the city of Espoo. First, we walked along the small nature path that meanders in the nature reserve. Lina was very excited about the forest and all "the attractions" that were along the path. Me and Kauppi also enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

Lastly, we had little refreshments. It was a nice evening for all of us. When you see this place, you wouldn't believe it's just 5 km away from our apartment! (On the other hand, this is just typical Finland - the nature is always only a stone's throw away.)
